About Leah

Leah’s Story and Mission in Performing Arts

Leah originally comes from the Scottish Borders and was fortunate enough to be exposed to the incredibly diverse range of creative opportunities that can be found in that part of the world. She then relocated to Glasgow, where she studied at Stow College, where she remains based to this day. As well as working as an Actor, Voice-over Artist and Director, she has been working as a Performing Arts Lecturer since 2008 which has helped her hone her skills as a Drama Facilitator.

Leah works both an independent artist and as a creative collaborator, with the latter being her preferred medium. She prides herself in her creativity, reliability, work ethic and organisational skills. Her core mission revolves around creating visually and emotionally engaging, text-based theatre and performances which showcase the strengths of a creative team and which inspire and move the the audiences who see them. Her unique and varied skill set allow her to merge the application of these pieces of theatre with a design that promotes education across a wide demographic here in Scotland. Her main passion is classical theatre, in particular the works of William Shakespeare, in which she has extensive experience across all three of her disciplines.

Testimonials

A few words from people who have worked with Leah

Scott Noble (Actor/Director)

"I have worked with Leah for many years, in the main with various Shakespeare performances both as Director and Actor.

As a Director, she has real vision on what she wants to achieve and being an actor herself, knows how to get the best from her actors. In particular on Richard III, she had a bold visual style she wanted to achieve and stuck to tha plan. As an actor, you know where you stand with Leah.

As a fellow actor, Leah is great to work with. She is very open and collaborative and is willing to take risks. She is also very trusting and is willing to play with new ideas and try out different things to achieve the best outcome."

John Stuart (I Know a Guy Productions)

“Leah Moorhouse is a truly exceptional talent. She brings a rare combination of dedication, focus, and creative instinct to her work. Leah approaches every project with a tireless work ethic.

I’ve worked with Leah both as an actor and as a director, and her communication and collaboration are second to none. In the last 20 years, there is no one I would rather work with—or recommend—more highly. With her commitment, drive, and natural ability as a brilliant creative.”

Leah is an outstanding practitioner whose contributions elevate every project she undertakes."

Ian Scott (Production Manager/ Designer/ Technician)

She is incredibly organised, always has a clear vision for what she wants to achieve and has wonderful communication skills. This makes my job as a designer/technician a breeze. Always a pleasure to work with, and I can’t recommend her enough."

Charlie Francis (Director/Digital Creator)

"Leah is an excellent performer, with great creative instincts and humour, as well as being a player whom others will turn to for advice and support."

Fiona James (Producer for Shakespeare at Traquair)

"Meeting Leah Moorhouse in 2006 then working with her on many a production since I have seen the transformation from community theatre actor and student to professional actor, teacher, director and mentor.
As an actor Leah listens to direction and communicates clearly, she has had many roles in our Shakespearean productions. Leah works well with fellow actors and when giving an opinion to change or adapt a situation she does so fluently.
In 2023 Leah directed Richard iii, she had a clear vision of the production, communicated with the production team regularly, The rehearsals were thorough and thoughtfully organised with additional rehearsal time added to tighten blocking, cues, pace and volume.
Leah is determined in the pursuit of her ambition, which is inspiring having seen her path and progression, an example to those she works alongside including her colleagues from Shakespeare at Traquair."
